While the fear of death is a driving force behind religion, the fear of life was, and arguably still is, its strongest appeal. Life in this world is full of uncertainty and thus anxiety. Religion offers a delusion that we can petition the unseen forces that weave our fate and this feature is perhaps its greatest selling point.

Consider that the ancient Hebrews didn't even have an afterlife in the earliest writings of the Bible. Their focus was on this life and the prosperity that Yahweh would grant those who were faithful to him. The promise of paradise and salvation would come in later additions to this tome.

Welcome.

Welcome aboard!
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
