However, doing the same test with each browser but using a broadband test that didn't promote google chrome resulted in all of them being 6.7 mb Dodgy

Erm...all three tests are essentially meaningless seeing as the test is done using Flash and doesn't use the browser at all.

The reason you got an extra boost in Chrome is most likely just down to timing. It could have happened in Firefox or Opera. This isn't a rendering test, it's a download speed test, and that is dependent on your ISP, not your browser.

This takes in our low latency T1, because only it handles well-known ports, while our DSL handles all crazy ports. Considering the amount of BitTorrent over here, if one goes down, the other is overwhelmed.
