I'm going to say something probably unpopular here, but what Ron Paul is referring to is if the woman is a rape victim he would give her a shot that would prevent pregnancy. Surprisingly progressive for him.

As a former conservative, I have to say that most conservative women don't really click with what these Republicans say at all. (Some do, but not many). A lot of them are anti-choice, but usually include exceptions for rape and (for some reason, I never really understood) incest.
Todd Akin lost his election, despite expecting to defeat his opponent handily after he made the comments he did about rape. The backlash is there, unfortunately conservative women tend to be quiet. I personally stopped being conservative once I realized (much like Christianity) that my idea of it and what it actually was were two very different things. (I was VP of my Environmental Club in high school. Not exactly something you'd expect form a conservative) Though I have to say growing up, I never heard anything about any of these people saying the stupid things they did. If I did, I'd probably have never considered myself a conservative.
