You have the ability to view events in the past, but not visit them. Dr. Heisenberg notwithstanding, viewing these events doesn't change them, doesn't alter the time stream in any way whatsoever. That in mind, how would you use your Chronoscope? What events would you like to watch in real time?

The assassination of Julius Caesar (morbid curiosity), I want to see if Plutarch got anything wrong. Also Caesar received the first known autopsy in history, interesting viewing for the medical buffs. According to said autopsy (carried out by a Greek Doctor called Antistitius) Caesar suffered 23 stab wounds (Including two to the face). Mental note: I shouldn't complain about stubbing my toe in the future.

Dinosaurs would be my first view. After that, the 'chronoscope' would replace my TV.

I'm surprised that, for all this talk about going back in time to kill people who annoy you, I'm the first person to bring this up: Jimmy Savile.
The man was most likely one of the most prolific sex offenders in human history since Caligula, and especially given that the BBC has gone out of its way to avoid showing any evidence that he did anything other than sexual assault, would anyone miss him if some time traveler took him out?
Shit, last year, a respected newsreader said on international TV that the greatest regret of his life was not killing him when he had the chance. Can you imagine anyone in his position saying anything like this about anyone else and getting away with it?
Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing is impossible. I remember looking at a list of verified Hitler assassination attempts, and, given how many of them failed in cartoonishly contrived ways, I am inclined to think that time travel is being invented constantly, and people from two different timestreams (one where Hitler survived until April 30, 1945 and another where he was replaced with someone worse) the do their hardest to work against each other, leading to his continued survival.

I've come to he conclusion that I'd probably just use this time machine observation type thing the same way I use the internet, to try and view the most extreme violence, gore and sex that I can do.
Ancient orgies, torture methods, wars, all the kind of stuff you see in ancient porn on vases and stuff like that.
Along with that also try and clear up the mysteries of the world
I think it would be a really good question to consider what would the reaction of religious believers be to this.
What If you told a Muslim or a Christian, hey I'm just going back to check if Moses did split the sea in half, if Jesus did walk on water, if there was 1 woman and 1 man at the start of the earth called Adam and Eve.
Just going back to check that all these things that sound like myths, burning bushes, sticks turning into snakes, floods and arcs did happen, and that the gradual biological change in animals that evolution describes didn't happen.
I wonder if a religious person had the keys to this machine if they would allow people to see the behaviour's of their prophets or to find out the true secrets of the world.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

Why aren't there any 'prophets' on your list? You could stop entire religions. Well, that assumes stated dogmatist exists. But I don't want derail the topic by discussing whether or not particular people existed.

Prophets?
We don't want to be going down that route, I think...
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

A waste of time and effort. There would always be another to fill the gap. And if they did not exist in the first place, how would you stop that? Hearsay, rumor, skuttlebutt, gossip, bullshit, etc., travel faster than the speed of light.
