9 Dead in SC church shooting

Gonna be honest, and this might shed a bit of light on the current state of the media, but as soon as I saw the headline I was thinking "Don't be a muslim, don't be a muslim, don't be a muslim", because then the Christians and right wingers would go absolutely insane.

Thought along the same lines. When reading it was a black church though I instantly thought of white male. But by the way, when does it start to be a terrorist attack instead of an ordinary shooting? The body count is high enough to call a spade a spade.

What denomination of xianity was the shooter?

Why does the media never disclose this information unless the shooter is Something other then xian.

This would be helpful in finding out a motive.

You can bet your ass if the shooter had been brown, the word "terrorist" would be in every goddamn headline.

ABC news crawl indicates shooter participated   in the bible study for an hour before the attack.


That strikes me as odd.  OK, odd for a hate crime.  If he heard something that set him off, that would imply it might have been possible for him to have heard something else and not attacked.  I'd rather not speculate this occasion, but the media is already working the hate crime script, and I think there is at least some evidence (as I noted) the crime is more theologically motivated.

ABC just released a good picture of the shooter.  There should be RAPID developments in this case, anyone who knows him will be talking instantly when they see the picture.

They also noted he started screaming 'something' just before opening fire.

I think his distinct look without seeing his entire face, and having an image of the vehicle too, somebody knows who he is, I doubt it will take long t identify him.
