Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results could be a sign of insanity
or it could be a sign that you are using Windows

People bitch about Windows, but overall I don't see that there's a better OS out there. Yeah, I know the Linux fanboys will feign outrage, but Windows 7 is a pretty solid product. Windows 8 is, too, but is kind of annoying.

Windows 8 is seemingly specifically designed to be annoying.
Hey, is that windows 10 out yet? I remember hearing those stuck with 8 can get a free upgrade?

Windows gives me aneurysms.

IMHO
Mac OS9 with the PowerPC processor was a good solid OS. The OS was user-centric, meaning that it would respond to the user keyboard and mouse immediately. Once Mac went to Intel and OS X, I really do not see much advantage any longer. I still use Mac because of all the software I have, but it is almost as computer-centric as Windows now.
I think the Mac still has a better priority system. I can let my windows laptop sit for a while and when I touch the mouse, the HDD lights up and I have to wait a moment for the machine to respond. And what is with that flashlight? Cannot Windows remember what was in that folder I looked at five minutes ago?
My Mac server works pretty well because I have three disk drives. One for the OS, one for the Home folder and a RAID 10 for music, movies and databases. If I had a Windows desktop, I would try the same with it. Windows is VERY HDD dependent, Mac is more efficient at using RAM rather than constant HDD access. There is a night and day difference in doubling the RAM on a Mac in contrast to Windows.

If I had my way, the @$$ who came up with Windows 8 would be taken around the corner and shot.

You can set Windows 8.1 up to function a lot like W7 in terms of the user interface. After a couple years I would be hard pressed to go back to W7, but you couldn't pay me to go back to W8 vanilla

That's the fact that if installed on a SSD, it boots in like 10 seconds. I find that pretty freaking fantastic. But those freaking Tab-imitation menus, built-in applications, fucking piss me off. The absolute worst is Skype integrated into Outlook (aka Hotmail). Every time I go to check my hotmail, I get gangked with like 50 notifications and messages.

It's nice to sometimes not know the difference or care. In my small world it makes no difference. Ignorance is bliss.
