The problem with Slipknot is that they overall have decent/good songs (always with their style of music of simplistic riffs and lots of screamo) but I can't stand listening to a whole album because it sounds repetitive, but maybe I should give it another chance. The new album has a song called The Devil In I that is meant to be more radio friendly, I'm expecting to see claims of selling out

Quote:The two albums featuring Blaze Bayley were... well, they aren't really worth listening to. Why they hired that guy, I have no idea - he wasn't even close to capable of carrying the same range as Bruce. Then again, even Bruce can't carry the same range that he used to be able to
To be honest he does a lot better than many other vocalists out there, and singing Iron Maiden songs is bound to tire your vocal cords - I can't really say if it's screaming, a falsetto or a mix of several styles, but it sounds good.
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

Listening to it right now while doing some routine work... So far it sounds nice. With many parts, I can't help but be instantly transported to the year 2003 when listening to it, which is a strange experience. But it certainly sounds like a well-made album.

Ok, for me personally...
I think all the reasons why I love metal can be (also) found in these three albums

I liked it. It has a nice feeling of nostalgia but with a sense of newness to it
Let me know what you think when you're done

I don't really know either of the bands you mentioned, should check out

I liked these guys because they didn't try to hide how corny they were with their metal-nicity. They have a song call "Kill the Orcs" lol

Coheed is pretty damn cool. They remind me of a mix of Rush, Queen, Thin Lizzy, probably some Queensryche thrown in there, a dash of Maiden...and a whole lot more. I like them in the same manner that I enjoy movies, which is to say, it's less to do with genres, and more to do with the emotions they're trying to elicit with each tune. In fact it's very "movie-like" because most of their career is conceptual; based on a comicbook written by the singer, with most of their songs coinciding with a chapter or so of the books.

Ah! The heavy metal falsetto singing is not exactly my cup of tea, but they are definitely the band one has to listen to while riding the big Rock Crusher through the gates of hell Tongue

Yeah, that's not for everybody. I found it too rad to not love. This was the soundtrack to many a headshot in Halo 2 and Black. Very good for vanquishing foes.

"Flash of iron, leather, spikes, and swords!
Mighty warriors with metal on their side!
Enemies of metal, your death is our reward!
Triumphant victory when you bring the steel to life"
You pretty much have to slay or crush to this.

It's funny, when I started listening to them it was sort of as a goof, because there's no real depth, but now I sincerely love those songs and they get me for real pumped up. Haha
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

I liked some Queensryche back in the day, even saw them in LA in 1995, but they just weren't gritty enough for me. They were great at finesse, but I like my metal to have an element of bulldozer in it at times, and they couldn't do that that I've heard.
