You know what I find most interesting about Dueling Bible Verses? Usually it ends up being two folks cherry picking their way to a nice contradictory pie, where arguments over the context ensues. Which is all fine, dandy and humorous in its own right; but the thing I find truly funny is that if the bible were any sort of halfway decent text inspired from a supreme being these arguments shouldn't be fucking occurring. One would think that the words of a God, an epitome of perfection mind you, would be veritably fit to bursting with obvious objective truths and lasting, inherently useful, information that would brook no arguments... and yet what we have here is page after page of bullshit. Hilarious.

Hilarious. I've said this many times to christard after christard. They simply ignore it and sing about how god is going to burn me in the special oven he made for me. RE: Open Letter To Christians

Did you know 'bad things' are not a punishment from God. Not the God of the Christianity/The bible anyway. It is true we lived in a garden paradise with God without exposure or consenquence to what you deem as 'natural law' because living that close to God we are shielded from it. But because of sin we can not be so close to God as to be shielded from the coonsenquences of 'natural law' or we because of our sin would be consumed (like in a fire) by God's righteousness. We simply have been turned over or separated from God and His direct protection. This life is not our 'punishment' it is our proving grounds to help us determine whether or not we want to spend eternity under god's Protection and Authority. The 'Punishment' comes after this life is over and we decide to remain in sin.

with respect sir i must contest. truth is defined as what is provable fact or what everyone believes to be fact. since not everyone believes in the garden of eden story then it cannot be classified as a truth. I know the christians are trying hard to rectify this. I believe that aliens had a hand in our cultural development. In my mind it makes sense but I will never claim it as a truth unless it can be proven. as for the judgment after life....the dead do not suffer the pestering questions of the living and so will never divulge what happened after their bodies ceased to function as a living organism. We cannot know until our time comes. It's okay if YOU want to believe. That's okay. That never bothered me. What does cause this whole problem is that I don't believe and therefor the religious MUST do something even if it is in the "not so nice" category of actions. Do you understand? I would not be here if, when i deceided to seek other ways of faith/nonfaith, the christian would not have shown me just how much hatred they are brought up to bear against those not of their faith. Can you comprehend this problem..? |
