I find this thread just astonishing and had to share it, it's from a christian forum and started with a Jupiter/Venus conjunction discussion. I would very much like our resident theists to offer opinion on these bible claims. Particularly the 360 day year in 701BC claim and the " Hezekiah's 10 degree reversal" part? WTF.

Why can't these people just leave science to grown ups ffs. If they stuck their head in their myths and prayed for rapture I wouldn't give a shit really, it's when they try to contort facts that really gets my goat.

There's an element of truth to this, but the science illiterate dumb cunts don't know when, how or why. The moon is already tidally locked to the Earth. The same will eventually happen to the Earth with respect to the Sun, but long after we're gone. Even if humans were to last the entire billion year forecast that this planet can host what we call organic life, humans will never see a 16 hour day.

Perfect weather? Or 'perfectly consistent' weather?
If we want to know what perfectly consistent weather looks like, all we need to do is look at our sister planet Venus.

Actually the events described in Isaiah 38 and Joshua 10 are somewhat believable given the cosmology which the Ancient Hebrews subscribed to. Anyway the sooner the Old and New Testaments are treated by the general populace to what the Iliad and Odyssey are the better. Although to be fair the latter pieces of literature probably have more historical truth (especially given the archeological discoveries at the site of Troy) to them than the Holy Bible does.
