Laughter, a good massage, music, fine dining, art and cumming. Does God look down on pleasure generally? If not, why single out sex as the bad one?
But is there a god? Lets say god is something that arises naturally in the affairs of man. Forget about creating the cosmos, that is so yesterday. But lets suppose 'god' is at least one of the ways the human mind can organize itself. Is there any reason to think this little god should be a prude? I can't imagine why.
*This thread is inspired by the porn and masturbation thread. I don't mind that people carry a god around in their head. (It is their head.) But why make that god a prude? Such a waste.

God is a prude because he represents the human impulse to curb human impulse. He is the instinct to abstain, to deny self, and to believe that your problems are ALWAYS because of your own actions. He is the face of the human tendency to deprecate, doubt, and deny the self. In short, God is a conscience for people who need a dictator instead because without being told to, threatened, or rewarded, his followers see no reason to do the right thing.

Why would you invent a single overarching god if you are not trying to browbeat people into forsaking what they otherwise might have felt it to be acceptable to do?
So monotheistic God has to be a prude because only a prudish God could fit the schemes and purposes of those who would invent a monotheistic God.
