Yeah, there really isn't much difference between an islamic religious extremist, and a christian one. They're two sides of the same coin, worshiping the same god, but just have a different messiah.

Christian fundamentalists don't care what the pope believes. And though it seems strange to say, in that, they are right.

Just wanted to paste in the relevant statement for those that don't link through:

The American religious right would do well to keep their mouths shut about this. There are plenty of politically liberal Catholics, but there's been a tenuous friendship between conservative Catholics and the religious right since the late 70s. Everyone should keep in mind that it really wasn't that long ago that the yokels considered Catholics only ever so slightly less sinister than atheists.
