How can I actually reason with someone who jumps to conclude what my position is on atrocities (any atrocity) before even asking for it? Who acknowledges himself that his own religion has committed them but in the same breath religion doesn't affect me or my society in the slightest (lel) and has the audacity to brand me the hypocrite after responding with the supposed damage that science has caused?

Let's use one of y'all favorite images. Suppose a person who believed in unicorns showed up in the forum like I did, and started posting arguments for the existence of unicorns. Do you think that person would be the recipient of the vile memes, videos, language and blasphemy that were and are thrown at me on a daily basis?

We would probably think the unicorn believers were insane and needed help. The reason that we don't think that Christians, who believe in something equally bizarre, are crazy is because faith in religion gets a pass in our culture.

If the unicorn believer wanted to justify rape or slavery using some sort of holy text, he or she would be met with outrage and disgust. Further if the same unicorn believer used his faith as an excuse to try to prevent fair treatment of others, they would be justifiably mocked on this site. If you added that unicorn believers had killed each other and nonbelievers in the past, I think that they would be viewed as a potentially dangerous group and might be called a terrorist organization. It wouldn't matter that many are peaceful, most people would be terrified of them.

There are some angry people here. Some are angry at Christians like me who say things they don't like hearing. Others are angry at their parents or a former pastor who mistreated them or threatened them, etc. Some are just angry because of all the bad stuff which they attribute to religion rightly or wrongly. And some are angry at God because they know He has called them and they do not want to answer.

Jesus loves the little children. Especially the little boys. So if Catholic priests stand in person of Christ then it is Christ fucking those little boys. That's Jesus who said make the  little children suffer when they come unto me. Just like his father in Heaven gave fathers on Earth instructions on how to sell their daughters into sexual slavery. Yes they all work for the same company.

So, it is your view then that whenever a priest commits a personal sin... whether it be sexual abuse of a minor, watching pornography on the Internet, or simply getting angry at the driver ahead of him in traffic, it is actually Jesus who is committing these sins because the priest IS Jesus?

If so, could you explain from official Catholic documents only where you got the idea that a priest is God?

Wished I had gotten here earlier in the thread, sorry fellow Christians. Like I just said to Rhondazvous, there are many here that are mad at God and many of the Christians who were here in the past have said so also. Just because those atheist deny they are not mad at God they can't hide their real feelings, at some time or other they will show their true self. One doesn't have to come out and say they are mad and an atheist wouldn't because the others would be all over that person for claiming to be an atheist, so atheist are very careful not to say such a thing, they can't stand having the truth told, so denial is their only way out.

Yes, in my brief time here among Atheists, I have learned that there are three rules that all Atheists must follow:

1. If you believe that God does not exist, never make a positive claim to that effect. If you do, you will be asked for proof of your claim.
   
2. If you are angry at God, never admit it. If you do, you will be asked how you can be angry at something that does not exist.
   
3. If you are presented with evidence for the existence of God, never acknowledge it as such. You must insist that NO evidence exists, because evidence you do not accept is still evidence, and acknowledging its existence undermines the party line.
   

Newbies learn quickly not to make these mistakes twice.

1. If I say god doesn't exist, that's not a positive statement and does not need to be proven. It's you who say god does exist who are making the positive statement.
2. Your pigheaded insistence that we are mad at god is disingenuous because you have an agenda for this insistence.
3. What evidence have you presented for the existence of god? If god existed it wouldn't be up to you to present evidence. You approach the phenomenal world with the paradigm that god exist and interpret everything you find according to that paradigm, then take said interpretation as evidence of your paradigm. Let god present his own evidence in a way that cannot be interpreted as anything other than his existence.
