If your answer is "the bible", then my next question will be:
What logical reason do you have to believe that the bible holds any truth?

I'm probably just being picky, but something as simple as saying "He" creates an opening for debate. Digression ftw.

Ok, fair point. I don't for a second think God is male. It's a tradition I suppose. I think the other guys and gals here accept this tradition and know 'He' or 'She' is not literal...

Sorry for being grouchy I wouldn't bring it up if people didn't insist on giving God a capital "H" in "He/Him". Nobody writes about me like that

I always refer to god as an "it" (at least when I remember to break out of the still-ingrained Christian tradition) because god is only an idea to me.

That is the age old pastafarian question that has troubled many a pirate for years. I think some questions are not meant to be answered. The FSM (his noodley appendages be praised) will answer them in the afterlife.

You guys are hilarious! Actually,I would like to put forth a very simple idea.Man created god/gods for a variety of reasons.Origins,comfort,understanding of the world in which we live in,and in some occasions religion is used as a means of controlling a population of people by instilling fear.The bible is written by men who have tried to make this tale of god coherent and believable.Which by the way upon an unbiased and closer reading of the bible you come away with several things.You notice the historically erroneous data,the same stories repeated more than once and blatantly conflicting with each other.And if you look even closer at the god of the bible you see the reflection of a man because it was men that created it.God has all the bad and good qualities that humans display from time to time.Sometimes I think that atheists and christians alike are guilty of over thinking the origins and the existence of God.

I see the biblical god as a mythical character and it belongs in the realm of myths and folktales.His existence is not even a matter of importance to me since I truly believe that he has never existed.The bible which claims to be inspired by god is as imperfect as the men that wrote it.This alone proves to me that it was not god inspired or revealed as some prefer to say.The God of the bible is a male chauvanist,condoned slavery,the death penalty for the silliest infractions,racist,evil,jealous,and tempermental.He actually reminds me of one of our many communistic dictators that have ruled in this world with an iron fist.And in closing as I always say you cant call the word of god a revelation to man since a revelation is only a revelation to the one who claims to have recieved it.After he passes it on it becomes hearsay just like the bible is nothing more than a bunch of stories passed on at first orally then in written form.
