RE: Ask a College Student
In all seriousness, how long does a law degree take?

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"

Well, what are you waiting for? Your next destination should be Plato's Cave. Big Grin

In a legal sense, what's the square root of 4589300675.995 without using a calculator?

It took my brother 6-7 years, I think.

BTW, I'm still trying to make him read Plato. He read Foucault instead(about Plato)! ;D

I've already read Plato's Cave. But I thought it was sorely flawed.

You mean you read about it, I think. The Republic (Plato) is Plato's magnum opus, a Socratic dialogue, in which the allegory of the cave is originally brought forward.

You should really read it if you haven't already. It was proven to have been immensely influential in political theory, which might concern you, throughout the two thousand years since it was first written. It's a captivating read, too. Nothing quite like it.

I, myself, am more of a Nietzschean than anything else; Nietzsche had a very deep dislike for Plato's musings, and rightly so. Still, I can appreciate this kind of literary work even if I disagree with its main ideas.

Nothing like med school.  In the U.S. it's a three year graduate degree.  So seven years all together, four for the BA and three for law school.  Most law student don't actually major in pre-law.  Philosophy, government, international relations, business, history, psychology, and English are all common pre-law majors.  But some of my classmates had a BA in things like: organic chemistry, engineering, or in one case theology.

ETA: BUT, enough about me, this is an Ask A BrokenQuill92 thread.

What makes you want to study law? (This is not a "please, no, we still have a few years to save you" question, it's an actual benign "which of its many facets appeal to you?" question)

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.
