Marriage is a man and a woman living together

RE: Marriage is a man and a woman living together
"Committed Christian" and "married twice" now

just how in the holy fuck does that work ?

Jesus fucking christ, there sure are MANY, MANY confused people out wandering around.  We need to contact the franchise office and file a complaint.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Her first husband must have died, compelling her to marry his brother. That's what the book says anyway.

The living together part is probably a reference to marriage clauses - In many countries, you are legally demanded to live with your partner and provide mutual support after you marry - Unless you have a decent justification as why you're not living together. I think that's probably what she meant.

It amazes me that people in this day and age can still try to pull the "separate but equal" bullshit and think they're not discriminating.

Perhaps she needs to take an American history class?

I think she's equal and deserves equal rights. Except she should be twatted on the forehead 18 times a day, and she sucks and I'm gonna break all her windows.

That may be shallow sloganeering.

Separate but equal in the American south is not bullshit simply because it is bullshit.   It is bullshit for a real reason.    Separate but equal provision in American south involves competition for the same total volume of goods and service.   So separation makes equality nearly impossible.

It is not true that all forms of separate but equal involves competition for the same goods and services.  So it is axiomatic that all forms of separate but equal must be bullshi.

Religion has no place in politics. Germany is supposed to be a secular state, yet here we are once again with a Christian leader bringing her "Christian values" into politics.

Can't say I'm that surprised, Germany is a bit like America in that despite being "secular" religion still has quite a strong presence. I do think we'll live to see gay marriage there though, Germany is hardly a bad place to be gay, public attitudes to it are apparently very liberal and there's strong support.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

I think the problem is 'those people' think that is an example of a utopian society.

It doesn't seem to ever happen, but if first hubby is still living, they could repudiate their divorce,  repent of subsequent whoredoms and fornications, and get back together.

Assuming they took the Jebus stuff seriously, of course.

This separate but equal reminds me of sexists who say "different but equal", specially Christians trying to justify why women should stay at home and be a mother because that's an awesome job and it doesn't make them inferior to not be able to do anything properly - Because you know, that's totally not sexist Tongue

I have no problem with Christian democrat parties, some people in those parties are not Christian because it's open to different right wing and center right ideologies, but I do agree that in Germany religion has no place in politics.

This reminds of my professor of Law History, who being a devout Christian thought that prohibiting gay marriage isn't discrimination because it's not against gay people but same sex marriage, so gay people can still marry the opposite sex and straight people can't marry same sex people, therefore it's equal
