The Eagles have now scored 10 total points through 8 first quarters.
They are a better team than this undermanned Dallas squad, and I think they're gonna win this game despite Sam Bradford. Tonight's what I needed to finally give up on him long-term. He puts the football in areas that make it very difficult for the receiver to make the catch, and in today's NFL the inability to get 5 yards when there's open space in front of you is an outright liability.

Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be. RE: 2015 NFL thread

So are the fans calling for Chip Kelley's head yet? Pretty sure the Ducks could still use him. Just sayin'.

Hehe... I don't think he's a fit for the NFL. Like Saban.
Hey! Maybe he'll bounce before the season's over if Oregon offers him a job? RE: 2015 NFL thread

Feel really sad for Dion Lewis. Guy was having a hell of a season, but it looks like his knee got mangled.
EDIT: The Pats' OL is being held together with bailing wire and chewing gum, and they still score 27. And they played really sloppy to boot. Just crazy. And as a general observation, it's amazing to see how many head coaches simply don't grasp end of the half clock management. Every week, people like Chip Kelly, Andy Reid, the stiff down in SF, the stiff currently in Miami, etc. leave potential points on the table because they apparently don't understand the linear nature of time and what timeouts are designed to do.

I put end of half management more on the QB than the coach when the no huddle is being run.
QBs require pre-snap reads, and they will regularly waste 10-15 seconds of running clock trying to get the defense to come out of its shell so he can kill the play or audible into something to exploit the defensive weakness. Put the camera on the OC/HC during this 10-15 seconds and you'll see them pulling out their hair more than likely. For some of these more experienced QBs (like Big Ben, for example), they are deciding what 2 plays to call in the huddle, deciding to kill one at the LOS, and reading the defense, calling out protections to the OL, and deciding on things like hot receivers/blitz direction etc. It's a lot of stuff. For coaches like Belecheat, his offense is a ballet, and largely ignores the defense except for film tendencies and whatever he's gleaned by stealing defensive signals. So he calls a play, and Tommy Boy quick snaps it, not caring about reading the defense. (In the no huddle---Tommy can read defenses as good as anyone) It relies on the receivers/backs making the right pre-snap reads, being football savvy. That's why less athletically talented players who are smart and have good football IQ and take coaching well do well in his scheme. He's less playing chess than performing a dance routine. It's successful until you get consistent pressure on Brady or have a significantly altered defense and do stuff that's not on film. (See Tom Coughlin's masterpiece in 2007/12)

That was a cool ending to that game.
Glad Hochuli got that Mathews fumble call right as well. Fucking hate the Cowgirls. I disagree most with this statement though: "In the no huddle---Tommy can read defenses as good as anyone". Tom Brady reads defenses better than any quarterback who has ever played the game...period. His record is a testament to that, and his touchdown/interception ratio this season is a really good testament to that. |
