Chuunibyou

Chuunibyou
Chuunibyou is a Japanese word which means "8th Grade Syndrome."
Basically it is when your own imagination overrides reality, and you take on a persona despite reality showing otherwise.
For example, a Friendly person trying to pretend to be Anti-Social. That would be very slight
Chuunibyou.
A little more intense would be thinking you have supernatural powers or just superpowers.
Try an early obsession with the occult or thinking you have some superpower like Firebending.
Finally, Chuunibyou is contagious, especially with children, sometimes you wouldn't lose it even as an adult and finally the bigger the threat of giving up Chuunibyou the heavier the price to give it up.
So let's see how Religion applies.
1. It is most often taught to Children.
2. Giant risk of giving it up, namely you not only lose your afterlife paradise, but you go to an afterlife that tortures you. Forever.
3. Superpowers: Ever seen some of the Bible verses that say that true Christians can drink poison and be fine? Yeah, I doubt that was meant as a metaphor. This verse isn't an isolated case. There is also a verse about true Christians having the power to command trees to uproot themselves and root themselves in the ocean.
4. Integrated into your daily life and thought. Say a prayer every day, pray that your dead loved ones are in heaven, etc.
5. Assossiate everyone that doesn't believe with a or the "enemy."
In Chuunibyou, you can find especially severe cases thinking that even a sister is a agent of "Pain" or whatever enemy they have made.
In Christianity, you can find Satanists and Atheists being associated as one person.
6. You can find "proof" in evidence you created and self fulfilling prophecies.

All in all, Religion is just one huge case of Chuunibyou.

Did you ever have a case of Chuunibyou, outside of Religion I mean? Can you see how Religion is Chuunibyou?

RE: Chuunibyou

A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Some more detail on Chuunibyou:

The anime I learned about the term:

I personally both have experienced Chuunibyou and believed in a Religion.
My case of Chuunibyou was believing I was a firebender. My case of Religion was Christianity.

I personally feel like they were extremely similar.

After researching Chuunibyou, and finding my correlations, do you think that Religion could be Chuunibyou?

And, well, 30/30.
