Replacing religion

Replacing religion
Hi folks,

Always interested to see rational discussions. I've recently decided to become more active with respect to atheism.

My current interest is understanding why people stay in religion, and how that can be provided in a non-religious context, see my website http://www.dogonism.org.

I am also running a campaign for the Darwin anniversary (http://petitions.dogonism.org/Darwin.html), and will post details elsewhere.

Regards,
Rupert

Welcome to the forum.

Question: How does Dogonism differ from Pantheism?
Best regards,

Cool idea. I'm reminded immediately, though, of the South Park episode where Cartman is taken into the future and the three different "Science Religions" are now battling it out Big Grin.

Seriously though, I think it's actually an important issue. Many people meet at churches etc for the social connections as well as the "spiritual" ones, and I wonder what could replace this? Anyone who's felt the beauty and power of gospel singing can probably attest to the connection felt by the congregation. Would this happen without a common purpose of meeting to worship?

Hi, Rupert.

You mentioned rational discussions. Do you think that ultimately there can be no such thing with those who don't agree? Politics and religion. Rational? Anyway as far as answering if something I assume to be loyalty of religion can be provided in a non-religious context, have you considered Amway? I think I spelled that right. Anyway, they have already done it.
