This is something that religious people in general seem to fear and I just for the life of me understand why
Lol, but there's really no proof of a Heaven or afterlife, so really, what if everyone just dies and that's it? :o

Well....among other things it means that an awful lot of people have wasted an awful lot of time groveling to nothing.
Granted, most of them would not have put the time to better use.

If everyone dies and there's nothing beyond that, then that would put more value on this life, more incentive to do something, to be someone, to make this life count. There's a quote that says "Life is like a coin, you can spend it on whatever you want, but you can only spend it once." That's pretty much my philosophy. Every moment that we spend bickering, as much as I enjoy it, are moments that are gone forever, every day that you procrastinate doing something with yourself, is a day wasted, and we are all marching forward towards our inevitable demise. Life is short, sweet, and not always fair, but it's the one tangible thing that you have. :twocents:
"In our youth, we lacked the maturity, the decency to create gods better than ourselves so that we might have something to aspire to. Instead we are left with a host of deities who were violent, narcissistic, vengeful bullies who reflected our own values. Our gods could have been anything we could imagine, and all we were capable of manifesting were gods who shared the worst of our natures."-Me
"Atheism leaves a man to sense, to philosophy, to natural piety, to laws, to reputation; all of which may be guides to an outward moral virtue, even if religion vanished; but religious superstition dismounts all these and erects an absolute monarchy in the minds of men." – Francis Bacon

The life after death controversy is one of those clear dichotomies.
Millions seem to have a comforting/terrifying personal certitude that it is the case. Far fewer are equally convinced it is not. Neither side knows for a fact.
I will be gobsmacked if I wake up after I die in non corporeal form..
There is either an after life or there is not. Currently the arguments are neither provable nor falsifiable. That means my opinion on the matter is irrelevant to the fact..
I am not able to make myself believe, regardless of the vile threats from many theist, which deny the free will in which they claim believe. ("believe in me,worship and obey me or I will hurt you" is coercion, not free will)

On this subject, something I've been meaning to ask, the male muslim martyrs believe ( hope? ) 76 virgins await them in " paradise "......what's in it for the female martyrs? I haven't heard what their bonus is.
Who really wants that many inexperienced women waiting for you? Who wants to train them up? How about the same number of women who have porn skills and know how to please you?
Saying that, these are women remember, how many men can stand one women for a life time? Imagine 76 women nagging you for eternity! Also were are all these women supposed to be from? I wasn't aware Muslim countries have a male to female ratio of 1:76.
Hell is other people.
When I die I'll finally escape this world but will be a bit too much on the dead side to enjoy resting in peace.

Maybe it's just the hippy side of me but I have a theory/fantasy that an afterlife exists in the form of a end-of-life hallucination due to the brain's natural release of DMT. Some of the known effects of DMT include distortion of time, ego death, and intense vivid hallucination.
The brain is an amazing thing. What if, at the very moment our brain dies, the release of DMT lets our conciousness live another lifetime, be with "spiritual beings" like a personal God, etc...
Anyone wanna hook a brother up?
Edit: With DMT, not death.

Your brain won't be of much use once they fill your arteries with formaldehyde.
