Why?

How would it differ from the current subforums?  Without special rules in place to enforce a difference, it would end up just being the same as the current Christianity subforum in content.  What special rules would you suggest for this new subforum to differentiate it?  (I also see a problem in that there isn't enough demand for such a forum.)

Your question is a good one, but so is the answer.

The reason that a separate forum would be beneficial is that MANY atheist members of this forum have stated that they really don't appreciate the fact that believers come into this forum to make the case for God and/or Jesus and disturb the haven that you all enjoy here.

For example, TheRocketSurgeon wrote:

Quote:"You're right. You're absolutely right. This isn't a forum for discussing Christianity."

He also said, "you invade our sanctum" and "this is our house".

I agree with Rocket, and that's where I got the idea for a separate subforum. Not everyone has the temperament or stomach for apologetics, They want to post Westboro Baptist memes and blow off steam about things they see in the news every day. Apologetics seems out of place in that atmosphere.

Okay, I get that. But does that mean that there is NO place for more serious discussion of the subject? [Image: shrug.gif]

A second subforum seems to solve the problem having a single forum which is serving two very different purposes inadequately.

RE: A Serious Proposal
If we made a separate sub for "more serious" discussion, would you begin to engage in more serious discussion? What would be done if -your- comments are deemed to fall below this mark? Would we then need another sub-forum that you're allowed to post in for "even more serious" discussion? I fear we might be diving into some ridiculous russian doll scenario here.

I have a suggestion, since we're making suggestions. Buckle up, resond to what you want to respond to - engage in the conversations you choose to engage in, like we all -already do-..yourself included..there is no compulsion to engage in a conversation here, on these boards. If you want to have a serious discussion, or a more serious discussion...or an even more serious discussion, do so.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

A second Christianity subforum would solve the problem having a single forum which is serving two very different purposes inadequately at present.

If it were my decision, you wouldn't be a mod.

But if you really need a list from me to tell you how to clean this place up, start with:

Foul language
Disrespecting of ANYONE's faith or non-faith
Blasphemous memes
Personal attacks
Vulgar avatars (your own, for example)

You know...the kind of stuff that would get you fired if you said or did any of it at work.

Oh, and you could start banning some people who are the worst offenders...like Minimalist and dyresand, for example.

NONE of that will happen, of course.

Which is why I propose a second forum where atheists like Nestor and others can engage in higher level discussion with theists without all the chatter.

Randy, too many subforums would only confuse. There may already be too many. If people used more accurate thread titles that alone would focus conversations.

Why don't you try bringing some actual conversation instead of telling us what the absolute undeniable truth is and spamming the board with copy-pasta. Oh, and leaving the condescension at the door helps too.

You come to our house and shit on our floor and then presume to tell us how the forum should be run. There's a log-out button, Randy. Maybe it's time you use it, you condescending fuck-wit.

Get yourself a blue tooth keyboard. They're cheap these days and make posting on mobile tolerable. Big Grin
