Sama, they're peace officers. They shouldn't be in the business of killing people.........not even the bad people.
Cops aren't monsters, not even the ones that shoot motherfuckers in the back without provocation. People do that. As you yourself have pointed out, there are alot of people in law enforcement. You get that many people together and someones gonna get hurt. That's normal, everyday human stuff. What isn't normal, is when we condition them, give them guns, and then shield them from the consequences of the laws we rely on them to uphold..the same laws that shooter cops believe justify their actions. As Min noted, somehow, other police forces around the world manage to keep the killings down to numbers you can count on your fingers and toes. No amount of cops -not- killing people is atonement, there should be nothing to atone for in the first place.
We have a problem. It's not a crime problem, or a violence problem, those numbers keep going down. It's a policing problem, not even a cop problem, so much, as that implies some individual actor, when that's clearly not the case. Institutional failure comes to mind. I really can't understand your objections in and to this thread. What is there to object to? Do you think they're in the killing business? I doubt it. Do you think that resisting arrest (and that's being generous, look through this thread and the last) should be a capital offense? I doubt it. Do you think that cops should get a free pass? I doubt it. What, exactly, twists you up about this one?

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
