Good, I agree with all the masturbation over that guy someone needs to point out no celebrity or institution is above scrutiny.

Shakira sings Lennon song before UN.

Mmmm, Shakira.

Is she an atheist?

Should have read the article first. I assumed it was just a video.

Quote:Shakira’s religious affiliation is a bit dubious. She was raised Catholic, and in 2013 she said she struggled with faith, but recently she’s stayed fairly quiet about her position.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Quote:Shakira sings “Imagine there’s no heaven…and no religion, too” before Pope speaks at UN

Did all the peaceful muslims throw rocks at her when she got to that line?

Man, oh man, do I love that song. Almost the atheist anthem, you might say.

I watched the video and started crying like a kid with a skinned knee.

Only when she was done did I look underneath the video to see the author wrote,

"I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me tear up a bit."

Still, nothing beats the original.

Wow, that is a ballsy move. And she sung it beautifully!

Fuck the UN.

Otta shit in every ambassadors mouth there.

Might wake up some of the fucktards there to actually do something besides sending Sudanese rape gangs to fuck kids in disaster areas.

My missus tells me that 'Imagine' is indicative of a dichotomy in my personality. As soon as I hear the piano intro (on radio, telly, whatever), I yell at everyone present to belt up until the piece is over.

The dichotomy is that I also do the same thing when I'm flipping channels and 'The Godfather' is on.
