But how can a priest know if he's gay or not when he is not allowed to have sex, masturbate or have sexual thoughts? When some priest say if he's gay or not does he automatically admits to do all those shameful and very sinful stuff or at least some of them? Shame. Shame. Shame...
Really, when Pope says he's not gay does that mean he masturbates on nude pictures of women because you have to get hard on somebody to know which way you go?

Seriously? Do you know any guy who does NOT have sexual thoughts? Most folks know (very clearly!) by the age of 12 or 13 what turns them on. A gay male is not turned on by pictures of females. In fact, I've known a few gay guys who find playboy centerfolds nausea-inducing.
And if a gay guy has been raised very devout Catholic, then what better choice than the priesthood? He has seen priests being almost worshiped and obeyed his whole life. He has seen the fancy robes and the pomp and circumstance. The job would require him to keep company with men and avoid women. He might even believe that if he prays hard enough, gawd will cure him of all of those impure thoughts he has about his fellow seminarians.

Well priests and nuns claim they never have sexual thoughts and even are reported punishing minors for having them as well as teaching them not to have them so this is a paradox: if a priest admits he's not gay (or gay) means that he indulges at least in sexual thoughts and that is something that theology considers evil and a truly unnecessary weakness if you are a "pure" person following Jesus teachings and other bullshit. Sexual thoughts to them are devil's temptations.
But in reality many homosexual persons can be aroused by people of the opposite gender and can even have sex with them, hence the fact that many gay people are in heterosexual marriage. But their heart is for the people of the same sex, meaning they can only fall in love and be emotionally fulfilled with a homosexual relationship. So how can some priest that never had sex or was in deeper relationship truly know if he is gay or not is more complicated.
