Yeah - neither is anyone else. It's just a bunch of quacks, spewing word salad, that sounds sensible to people with no idea. They're selling magic beans, with the help of some scientifically sounding lingo.

You can find all manners of quacks and cranks on google.  From people healing cancer with prayer - to perpetual motion machine scams. Google won't do the critical thinking for you, although you can also easily google "binaural beats scepticism", or something.

You did? I must have missed it. Could you cite your credible scientific sources again, please? Quack websites don't really count.
Neither does this:

What does "using one's brain" mean? Brains do all sorts of things - a lot of them subconsciously. I don't know how exactly you can tell who uses their brains to what extent "throughout the day" - and there sure as hell isn't anything "obvious" about it.

Whenever something appears so obvious to you, that you don't think it requires research, or evidence - it's a good sign you might be wrong.

lol
Typical response from someone without any factual arguments. I don't know what you're calling "trolling". You asked questions - I responded. You want to believe in stereophonic acoustic effects being magical - fine with me. But you'll have to do it "on faith alone", since there's no credible evidence for it - or at least you haven't presented any.

RE: Binaural Beats
I was introduced to binaural beats through ASMR videos. Listened to some stuff that's supposed to emulate drug effects and the likes. Never worked. One YouTuber I follow uses them in their videos for entertainment purposes. Supposed to induce a trance (also never worked) and they incorporate some dark elements that freak out the Christians and make them think the videos are possessed by Satan. Made for some funny YouTube comments.

Umm..

I never said that sounds effected the brain. Actually I specifically rejected it in multiple responses. It's literally the opposite of what I said, in fact I was mocking it in my original post.

Seems to me like you need to read before you pick on people like a douche bag with responses that aren't accomplishing anything. I frankly don't have time to go read about something I don't care about. I never said I believed this either, I proposed a plausible situation in which "Brain Activity" and only brain activity, not "Binaural Beats", could be reasonable to assume, and a plausible scientific term. Oh and by the way I believe you contradicted yourself since you told me that you didn't want to research because anything and anyone speaking on the subject found via the internet was a "Quack", and there would be no reason for me to research and read what the people you think is "wrong" wrote would there? Yet now you're telling me to provide evidence, and to go research for a belief that I never even claimed in the first place.

If you can't be bothered to look for evidence otherwise why bother attacking people who simply stated their opinion. Why bother trying to start a debate to get a kick out of proving someone wrong. I never said I held a position, which is why you are starting a debate for no reason, how are you going to debate someone that's undecided?

You're pathetic.

Too bad - because sounds do affect the brain. Just not in the way binaural beats proponents imagine.

Anyway - you started a thread about binaural beats, asking what people think. I don't know why you decided you need to feel butt-hurt, because I called it bullsh*t and quackery, if you don't believe in it yourself, but there you go.

As for "brain activity" - your "intuitions" about it don't seem to be based on any actual science - that was all I ever said.

Basically you play these certain "beats" or sounds that have a frequency like this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAyA7rfyF38 (this is just the first one I saw)

I have used these.  Mostly for sleep, and some relaxation or headaches.  I would say that I definitely  noticed a differences, and even had dreams while using the sleep program (normally do not). Also noticed falling asleep faster.   I used the focus program at work as well.  I noticed the most from brainwaves on ios.  Some others where crap.

Yes. Some programs work better than others. Hemisynch 'Flow' seems to be very effective for me. Using over the ear headphones is better than earbuds too.

Don't you love how some people can have such strong opinions without having even tried it? Mainstream medicine has only started to accept the efficacy of acupuncture. I can remember when that was considered quackery too.

That's nice, except acupuncture still is - for the most part - quackery and what actual effects it may produce, have been so far indistinguishable from placebo, when tested under proper scientific protocol.
