The Former Denomination of Christian Deconverts
|
My parents started out Southern Baptist and then moved right-ward to Pentecostal Church of God Holiness. My brother and I are extremely grateful to now call ourselves "Atheist".

While I've never been suckered in by the bullshit, I was raised in a primarily Seventh Day Adventist home.

In retrospect, you probably should have allowed for multiple choice.
Now I get it with the Mormons! They really are on drugs!

Shit. I forgot Pentecostals, UU, and 7day Advent. Well, I guess those folks will just have to shoehorn themselves in somewhere. I didn't want to have multiple choice because I want people to choose what best fit. Then I can determine the percentages of respondents in each category. My hypothesis was that most AF atheists were either RC or Evangelical. However, for now, the data suggests otherwise.

At least 7th DA try to go to church on the right day (and only missing it by, on average, 12 hours) and it's always fun to engage most of of the rest of the Christers on their not observing the Sabbath as directed by the Lord God Almighty, who even put in a Commandment on the topic, just to be clear. Their 'deer in the headlights' stare when I point out 'Seventh Day' means precisely that, (without bothering to go into the even more Christer confusing sunset/midnight discrepancy, which generally makes their heads explode) the last day of the week, in other words, and is therefore THE day they should be keeping holy and not picking up sticks on, etc. so as to honor the Sabbath and keep the God dude placated until some other trivial particle of outrage clouds his judgment and he goes off on another tirade/rant/pogrom/hissy fit. Let's hear it for the Seventh Day Adventists, at least they're trying a squosh harder than the rest of the slacker Christians. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
The only church I went to more than once as a youngster was Evangelical.
I've never deconverted from anything, but I was taken to a United Methodist church when I was a kid.
