I know I'd be upset.
Indeed... that would be the perfect setting! Let's say one on each side, with gas stations across the street from both the front and back of the orphanage. A truly emotional explosion... imagine losing so much gas, beer, and motorbike thingamajigs...

You didn't specify in your post that you were singling one person out. You simply generalized.

Welcome, I'm in Hampton, VA. Nice to cybermeet you as shelB put it.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

I think it was fairly obvious, since I was replying to one person's post and quoted it at the top. I fail to see how my words could have been interpreted as a generalization of everyone else here.
I thought Pippy was being serious. She related my question about fiction writing to religious intolerance, which rubbed me the wrong way and I worded my response with perhaps a bit more severity than the situation called for. Not to be rude, but I don't see what any of this has to do with you, honestly.

Though I agree you were responding to pippy: why should Shell B's responding be thusly invalid? If I ask Satan, "Is the moon made of green cheese?", and while Satan is pondering the question, King Albert says, "Only if it is true that cheese is not made by men."... should I consider Albert's response as to be ignored simply because he is not Satan?
Pippy attests to being a man, though there is a mild forum conspiracy that pippy is indeed a woman.

I meant that it was borderline ridiculous for ShellB to get so defensive over a remark that wasn't about her, and, moreover, was (apparently to everyone but me) obviously an example of two people not understanding each other's terrible attempts at sarcasm. I did not mean that ShellB has no right to comment on a public discussion.

I guess the addition of the effeminate -y to the end of his handle threw me off. Whoops.

It was a bit silly, but if I recall her comments apply to a number of people. I would (jokingly) ask in this case then:
You are walking casually through the parking lot to get to the department store. On your way, you see two people in a heated discussion, and in passing closely, overhear the following part of their conversation:
Person A says to Person B, "You are unkissably ugly."
Is it ridiculous (borderline or otherwise) to come to Person B's defense by walking up, giving them a quick smooch, and continuing on?

That's what they want you to think...
