Isn't it entertaining watching him trying to lick his own balls?

And adorable ... like watching a puppy going in circles trying to catch its tail.

RE: Review so far of the Romans study
What I find funny is the Facebook analogy he made in his OP.  I've had that conversation with my mom.  But, here's the thing:

1. Her concerns aren't completely off-base.  Facebook and other social media sites are a security risk.  There is a lot of drama that happens on there.  A lot of it is pointless.

2. Even though I can educate her enough on how to be more safe and avoid the BS, I see no reason to do so.  Her life isn't going to be impacted in any appreciable way if she learns about Facebook.  Her remaining family, outside of a handful, all live in this state.  Even then, she regularly talks to who she wants to talk to on the phone.  While she doesn't see her grandkids as much as she'd like, her being a FB friend of my brother wouldn't actually address that, and seeing pictures of them without them being here would only make her want to see them more, exacerbating the issue.

Moreover, she doesn't want to learn more about Facebook.  She's perfectly content with her surface knowledge of it and the dislike that stems from it.  And I'm fine with that.  I have no emotional stake in her learning/not learning about it.

So, when Drich makes his weak rhetorical jab, he refuses to answer two important questions:

1. Are we completely off-base with our criticisms?  I'd say no, he'd say yes, so whatever.

2. What's the purpose behind learning more about Christianity?  My mom doesn't want/need to learn the mechanics of operating Facebook - even though she's beyond qualified - because it doesn't serve a purpose for her.  It doesn't give her anything she can't get elsewhere, and in better quality (connection with family online vs. on the phone/in person).

We have no need for a god, any god.  So, what's the purpose - why should we care - about learning about Paul and Romans?

It's even better that this puppy doesn't even have a tail, but he doesn't know that and does it anyway.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

AB-SO-FUCKING-LUTELY.  I don't know why any xtian would even TRY to start "bible study" threads here. Many of the atheist members here are brilliant at dismantling bible passages, true . . . so I suppose such a poster is useful as cannon fodder.  But a bible study discussion on an atheist forum only has one purpose: to try to convert.  To try to convert people who think the wholly babble is a hideous, vicious, immoral concoction of bullshit and lies about a deity that never existed in the first place.
Any attempt to convert is disrespectful.
I guess it's one small step above the idiots who come to this place a paste a bunch of bible verses, apparently thinking we've never seen them before and will be immediately enlightened.

So... you're saying they DON'T respect us? Well, gosh.

A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

You must have a blocked nose. I don't think that's mud.

The only purpose I see in learning about Christianity is that lots of people think it's true and you want to try and understand it from their point of view.

However, learning the content of the bible is otherwise no more important than reading any other random work of fiction.

If I want to learn something, I'll pick up a fact based book. I won't pick up a story book and see whether the story might somehow be true and then try and work out weird messages from its supposed events.

I want to learn about Christianity for the same reason why accident investigators may wish to learn about plane crashes, historians may wish to learn about the holocaust, or epidemiologists may wish to learn about the Plague.
