I'm really shitty at giving kudos and rep. That's because I would be inconsistent in remembering to do them, and also I don't really want it to show if any favouritism is happening. Judging by the camera work in the second video what is crystal clear is that what they did wrong was make their statue the tallest object in the area. Probably a good idea from a marketing point of view but you never want to be the highest target in an area which is prone to thunderstorms.
