Calling all cooks .. recipe request for the holidays.

Calling all cooks .. recipe request for the holidays.
I know some of you guys are really talented cooks.  (Looking at you, Summer.)

Any how, my wife's walking group always does a themed pot luck for an early xmas party.  This year it is Mediterranean - Greece, Turkey, Israel, etc.  I can find my way around the kitchen okay but I have nothing like this in my repertoire.

Anyone got a good one to recommend?

Sorry, that's outside my talents.

I can tell you what I like. Rack of lamb (don't ruin with mint jelly), dolmades, spanakopita, tiropita, souvlaki, and baklava.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

Wrap Lil Smoky cocktail wieners with thickly sliced bacon (use toothpick to hold together)

Fill a 9x9 glass baking dish with them

sprinkle evenly with a cup of brown sugar

bake at 350 (I think) for around an hour.

They are disgustingly greasy, sweet, piggy, caramelly, fattening and bad for you, but damn, they're sure tasty.

Spanakopita and baklava are both very easy to make.  If you use the pioneer woman's recipe for baklava, cut the honey sauce in half (twice what you will need, but oh so good)

Yep. I was going to say spanakopita...

I wouldn't call it easy, though; at least not the way I make it.

I love cooking, but I haven't gotten into much Greek cooking. I make Greek salads....not terribly interesting for entertaining though.

Good luck!

Well I was leaning toward making this:

.. but I'll first go look at some recipes for Spanakopita. Thanks!

It's not exactly Mediterranean, but it does solve(?) problems with in-laws, and you can always substitute the major ingredient for whatever fits the dinner motif.

Cthulhu's World-Famous(*) Dry Manhattan.

Fetch ice from the freezer, a jar of marischino cherries from the refer, and bourbon and sweet vermouth from the liquor cabinet.

Pour a healthy dose of bourbon into a standard bar shaker. More than that. Keep it coming, I'm thirsty. Little bit more.

Return the unused ingredients to their respective storage location.

Decant the drink into a pint mason jar. Or don't. Bottoms up!

The most obvious and simple (and damn tasty) thing would be Pita bread and Hummus.
