"The first person to live to [200, 300, 500, 1000] has already been born"
RE: "The first person to live to [200, 300, 500, 1000] has already been born"
If you'll recall..originally, we were all going to starve before the chopper arrived.  But lay all that aside.  Imagine yourself to be Steve..if you can, for just a moment.  As you lay there, dying...who's smiling mug do you want to see, mine or yours?  You imagine yourself, in each case, as the beneficiary rather than the oppressed.  This, imo, is why you can;t see how bad the ideas you've expressed would be for us.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So you agree we'd have to let poor old Steve die and then go through the gruesome process of slicing, cooking and eating his meat so we can make it out alive?

I should rather say: so at least the two of us make it out alive, the alternative being all three of us dying of hunger, since steve would receive his medication to have a few last moments at the expense of what could be many, many years in our case.

I'll make the scenario even more interesting in a moment, but let's wrap this particular chapter up first.

Sorry bud, bud if I was going to eat someone, it'd be the person who tried to talk me into holding out the other guys meds.  I'd be far less than interested in you making it off that island alive unless there was a pair of handcuffs waiting for you on the heli.  I've been indoctrinated, heavily.....it's not something I'd plan to do, it's not an acceptable solution.  Not sure where you got the idea we agreed on this one.

Understand?

Suppose I didn't say anything, as per original scenario. Suppose I just lay there doing nothing, and you had the medicine and the knife in your pockets. What would you do then?

Give the man who needed the medicine the medicine, and spend whatever time I had left looking for a way to get us all out of there (and I'd find one too..your situation is ridiculous).

I'm sorry, but in my scenario there is no way out of that island other than the helicopter and there is no food to find. Based on what we ate last time, before we got in that situation, we'll starve by the time the helicopter arives. And we know that for sure. Or at least, you do - in the scenario, I mean.

You'll have to answer this dilemma as it is, without changing it's premises.

Your scenario exists as an attempt to bring me down to your level, while distancing the thread from your previous comments. Your frustration is understandable, but you'll need to get used to it. I'm not you. I won't do the things you will.
