Just to be clear, I am in complete agreement that 1. she did a stupid thing, and 2. perhaps this whole story is fabricated anyway.

Actually it's not. Consent is really not that complicated. Your posts have a pretty angry and entitled tone to them.

If someone asked you to stop, would you stop? I would hope so.

I think he is getting at the point that most of the time you have sex, consent is expressed by actions not words. Think about out it. When your going at it do you just stop and say "Okay, now before we begin, do you consent to sexual relations with me?" Most of us don't and this usually isn't a problem. Now if the girl says stop, you stop. But when your a with a raging hard on, only a moment away from orgasm, this is easier said then done as during sex your rational mind usually goes bye-bye.

Especially when alcohol is involved in the situation.

IF, what she is saying is true, then she wasn't getting hot and heavy with him in the shower and then called rape when it was over. Again, that is a big IF, but that's what we're going off of here.

Wouldn't matter if she -was- getting hot and heavy in the shower, and then decided to flash a red light, ofc.  I stand by my original assessment, it's a "wtf !" situation for both parties involved...those parties being a moron and a rapist.

The more I find out about this woman, it's as if someone made up this character while trying to create the most stereotypical hipster liberal they could.

She's a vegansexual.  Takes pictures of her armpit hair. She posts articles about her right to be free to shower with strangers.

She went to the hotel to leave a note for one of her American friends and to go and say hi to another American friend named Clyde.

So I presume she could have asked either of these 2 people to use their showers in the hotel.

Instead she decides to accept the offer of Shakir.

Shakir from what I can gather from the articles, told her that he lives on the street so basically a homeless man, and he was desperate to get with her, and was drunk at the time.

I know I'm just repeating what other people have said here but really it needs to be stressed. 

What is the safer option, having a shower with the homeless, drunk, desperate south African man (south Africa being known as the rape capital of the entire world)

Or you could wait until your friends from America get in contact with you and use their shower.

There's no doubt about it that if what she said happened did happen he is 100% to blame and should be arrested and put in prison.

In an ideal world I wouldn't blame her for anything she did, but it's not an ideal world.  I'd be willing to put a bet on that in the next 5 years or so that woman is going to be victim to several more rapes.

Welp, I'll admit, I didn't read that part. I only read the account in the original post, which made the situation seem very different.
