....it's flat out absurd to insinuate that we have no rules at all.......

If someone makes my property illegal (and me a criminal for having said property)..... for the crimes of another...I am a victim.  I hope to avoid this by injecting some factual discourse into the conversation.

Nobody is coming for your guns. Stop looking at it like that. This is the same fear mongering car companies used when Nadar told them their products were not safe. We don't use rotary phones in mass either. We also should be getting away from fossil fuels. It's a matter of changing technology and we also no longer simply have nothing but muskets.

Instead of thinking of"me" why not think about what YOU can do for the country. Is what you own so precious to you that you'd allow one organization and one industry blind you into not seeing a problem? Stop clinging to the past and look to the future. What can we do to reduce gun deaths. Not "what can I do to keep making excuses to do nothing".

If everything worked the way the NRA claimed, we would not have the amount of gun deaths we do. Just like if religion worked the way people claimed we'd have no religious wars. It is the worship and paranoia I object to, not your rights.

You're asking me what I can do for my country?  LOL, get fucked.   Wink

Yes, my guns are precious to me. As is the notion that I am not a murderous retard that will one day shoot a toddler. We can enforce our gun laws, which do exist, and are legion..despite your insinuations to the contrary.

You do object to my rights, that's okay...but I want you to own it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I agree with the red herring. Most European countries don't even allow people to possess firearm without passing several tests. And you need a cause. You can't get a gun because you feel you might need protection some day, you need to have reason why you might be in danger constantly. Obviously, cops and soldiers are authorized to have guns. I don't think there's any dictatorship here.

If by Europe you mean the European Union, then I am perfectly aware of the gun laws considering I am a Briton myself. Our gun laws absolutely suck and unfortunately they don't show any sign of changing any time soon.

Technically speaking Belarus is seen as Europe's last dictatorship, but surprisingly they seem to have fairly lax gun laws and quite a strong gun culture. If you check a couple of posts above, you'll see that I wasn't being entirely serious regarding the image of the dictators though.

Thats the problem right there, the attitude that an object should be treated like a living human. "Precious" is an absurd word to apply to any object, not that anyone is or has been objecting to property rights. The use of that word shows what your priorities are.

Sorry it doesn't work like that. WE VOTE and since voting applies to all parties and since there is no political party oath to either the First Amendment, or the Second Amendment, we don't simply do what one party wants 100% of the time. If you are going to claim that I object to your rights what you are objecting to is my right to vote.

You cant have it both ways, if you are going to childishly claim I am objecting to your rights, then I can accuse you of the same. Now do you want a Constitutional Republic that allows for voting, or you simply going to shoot anyone who manages to change laws to things you disagree with? What is the point in having voting at all if I have to fear you shooting me to protect an object. You value an object over a living human being?

If you are going to go that rout remember Washington used armed militias to go after armed mobs. See the article in the prior post.

I am for gun ownership so get over that part. I am only against the paranoia and worship and childish fear mongering. We are not in danger of becoming a fascist state because some see a problem with the status quo.

No shit, you said it. I just had a thought, the same fear mongering with "Baby Killer" and pro life worshipers. Too stupid to understand, that if they are going to be constant in calling abortion murder, and want to go to war over it here in the states, to be consistent, they'd have to go to war with England and most of Europe and even Israel which are staunchly pro choice.

Same with guns, most of our allies have much more regulations and make guns much harder to get and none of them are fascist states.

It is the same sell of fear that works on gun worshipers, that works on right wing Christians and Islamic zealots. Their leaders scare the shit out of them into blindly following them.

Well, maybe. But my main problem with the meme is that it's just false. There wasn't a point where any tribe or group of American Indians relinquished their artillery in any sort of voluntary gun control program. On the contrary, the natives frequently used firearms, using them as early as the 1650s. In fact, at the famed battle at Little Big Horn in 1876, the various American Indian groups were better armed than Custer's men were!

If you use your right to vote, to object to my right to bare arms.......it's idiotic to claim that you do not object to my rights.  Like I -already- said...that you object to my rights is okay..I just want you to own it.  If the US votes (and even if it doesn;t) and my rights are infringed upon or eliminated..so be it, thems the breaks.  I'll be disappointed...and you won't get any sympathy from me when some right important to you is threatened, that's all. Which is going to be tough for me...because I'll still feel compelled to be your bulldog.

No, actually, you can't..because I made it clear in my post that you were entitled to your position..I just want you to own it.

I take my firing orders -from you-.  Once upon a time, I made a vow to defend this nation and it's constitution (enemies foreign and domestic).  It's ludicrous to fly off on some tangent wondering whether I would go on a shooting spree because of a vote.  It's the very antithesis of who I am and who I've proven myself to be.  You bitch and moan...I've bled.  Try and remember that when you ask me what I'd do for my country.

We're in danger of becoming a fascist state when you can't own your own position, or when you see one of your staunchest defenders as a threat for the simple act of disagreeing with you. Brian......please, don't tell us that you're for gun ownership....your -many- posts on the subject argue to the contrary.

@ Aegon. Not only were they better armed for the battlefield they chose, they had competent leadership. Custer could have crushed them had he leveraged his full force (and full armament), but his pride led him to showboat and he died for it. Served him right.....but it was a disgrace to his men. An altogether too common narrative.
