Ask a right-wing libertarian who is supporting socialist Bernie Sanders for President
Donated to the campaign, got a Bernie 2016 bumper sticker on my car, trying to share stuff on social media. Can't vote so I'm doing the best I can!

Never thought I'd be openly supporting a socialist but here we are.

I share the "feel the Bern" messages on FB.

As an outsider, I can honestly see him as the best option.

I don't really have any questions or anything but Sanders does seem pretty awesome. If I were an American, I'd definitely support him.

Do you think that Sanders, if elected, could actually enact the sorts of change upon which his platform is built?  If so, how so? Additionally, if you had to isolate a single issue which you feel is both the most important and you feel that Sanders has the right of, which is it?

When was your last MSE?

Here's my thinking: if Trump wins the nomination (which seems likely) then we'll see a larger than average voter turnout, especially among young Democrats and Independents. That will hopefully elect a large number of Democratic congressional candidates, giving the Democrats the majority in Congress, making it easier for President Sanders to enact policy.

As for which policy, I think at the moment it's healthcare. Having lived most of my life in a country with a public healthcare system, I think I'm pretty qualified to say that what the US has sucks in comparison, even with the ACA. I'm saying that even as I live in Massachusetts, which I'm told has one of the best healthcare systems in the US anyway. I'd hate to think how bad it is in other states.

I won't be. Got to be a citizen and I can't even apply for naturalization until the end of 2017.

I think the thing Bernie can actually accomplish is Campaign finance reform. Repealing Citizens United and lobby reform are, to me, the most important issues facing American government today. There is so much cash infused into the government, it is becoming more and more impossible to get anything done. Dems and Repubs have always hated each other. They have always compromised, until the lobbies gained more power than the people and politicians have to spend the majority of their time raising money so they can outspend their opponent.

Before any major legislative change can happen, the money in politics thing has to be fixed.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

You do understand that the democrats get almost as much bribe money as the republicunts, right?

This is a great system we have developed.  The people who benefit most from it are the only ones who can change it.

I'll ask for your odds on that happening.
