Will Star Wars top a billion?

Will Star Wars top a billion?
It looks like it is slowing down:

http://www.imdb.com/chart/

At $914.84 million, it still has a long way to go.

I assume you mean US - only box office? It's already passed $2 billion worldwide. It might get there eventually, or stop just short.

Who cares? While I do value entertainment as part of the human condition, I think it is far more important what we spend on real war vs what we spend on ending pollution and global poverty.

So what if it does?

It would be the first film to gross $1 billion in US domestic ticket sales.  Does it matter?  No, of course not!  IMHO, I think that it was the worst Star Wars ever made; even the second prequel was better, at least in my opinion.  The star-sucking planet was just too much for me to take seriously; I remember sitting in the theater, thinking, "WTF?!"

I agree, if you take away the fact that the Rey was less annoying than either versions of anakin skywalker, and Daisy Ridley had far more Chrisma than either Jake Lloyd or Hayden Christiansen, the force awakens would by most other measures I care about be much worse than any of the sequels.
