This is why some people resist messing around in "god's domain". Because eventually we're going to get better, and it will diminish their god. The more we know, and the more we can do, the less special gods look.

OK. Let's forget the god bit for a minute.
We can do wonderful things but the biggest paradigm shift will come when we solve abiogenesis.
It's always been just chemistry, right?
