One of my favorites sermons of all time.

RE: One of my favorites sermons of all time.
Why should we care what your book of magic has to say about mythical beings?

here's a cool quote from Homer's "the Iliad"

Rage—Goddess, sing the rage of Peleus’ son Achilles,
murderous, doomed, that cost the Achaeans countless losses,
hurling down to the House of Death so many sturdy souls,
great fighters’ souls, but made their bodies carrion,
feasts for the dogs and birds,
and the will of Zeus was moving toward its end.
Begin, Muse, when the two first broke and clashed,
Agamemnon lord of men and brilliant Achilles.

Isn't it enlightening?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

It says to me that even when you get to heaven and have been there a long time, god will still be testing you, trying to trick you.
Couldn't he have just read the angel's minds, or wasn't he good enough?
Were humans created just to test angels?
