I always try to eat more GMOs out of spite. I buy organic, too, sometime, but most anti-GMO activists I've met were idiots or hypocrites. I get some of the concerns of course, but what I've seen was little more than an anti Monsanto club with a lots of magical thinking about "natural" food

Shouldn't be too hard to avoid GMOs in the US..............unless you eat livestock feed.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
I only eat gluten free meat.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

It follows the same principles as any other system. If it works and has benefits you have to ask what are the unintended negatives. RE: GMO vs Organic

To me it makes sense to ask that question about specific GMO applications, but it doesn't make sense to apply it to the entire field and for posterity. The general technique works, some applications are largely benign (such as putting vitamin A in plantains), others are more problematic, some things are not yet understood. Calling into question whether genetic modification of organisms in general works out seems very misleading. Not comparing genetic modification to current techniques which are relying on uncontrolled mutations is dishonest.

I agree, and we really don't know of all the fertilizers and pesticides used. If I can I buy locally to support the local economy and sustainable farming. |
