Book Reviews

Maybe we could have a forum for reviewing books. When I've finished reading The Blind Watchmaker and Evolution by Prothero, I'll let you know what I think. My fingers are itching to buy David Berlinski's new book: 'The Devil's Delusion: Atheism and Its Scientific Pretensions'. I've tried Waterstone's and Borders and it's not available yet. I can't wait....

Fleas like the Devils delusion need to be written quickly or they won't sell to well (Fleas are books written to ride along on the success of a book they try to refute).
There are a lot more of them by the way:

Yes, I thought so. I gave them the isbn number and neither could find it on their system. I'll try again.
Good idea, Kyu, I propose 'The Devils Delusion'. From what I've seen and read of Berlinski, he will prove to be entertaining if nothing else. He is arrogant but charming with it I think (well from a woman's perspective) and very witty and intelligent. I think we would enjoy it....

I used to run a book club with my blog, so this would be nothing new for me, and I'd be willing to do it (the only reason we stopped last time was due to lack of interest). The way we did it last time:
People suggest a number of books, and a vote is taken to decide which we should read. Votes are always 2 months ahead of the actual book reading (so people have time to order it off amazon, etc). Everyone gets a month to read the book, and at the end of the month we discuss it in the forums.

I find I can't read fast enough to be able to contribute to any sort of book club. I'd need to devote too much of my time to it, far more than most other people.

I'd be interested as well... I need something good to read and discuss when I'm procrastinating from my studies.
