You know, I've heard a lot of crap about the guy about how surprising it was that he won. He didnt' have a propoganda machine like the republicans or even lots of support. He won in the most grassroots manner possible because he mostly just went door-to-door and people just didn't like the people they may have knew more about and took a chance with a completely unknown and fairly soft-spoken man.

I think that's awesome and frankly, I've heard what his political ideas are when the media was making their big stink about it and I would have voted for him too, if I could have.

There would be no republicans left! The last thing the yanks need is a one part system.

I'm sure another party would step up in their place or the one surviving party would split in two. That's how things have gone in the past and I'm sure that's how things will go in the future.

Greene is a mental retard. He is Bubba in Forrest Gump. The Greene/ Demint election is a lose/lose for my state. Aiken County (SC) Democratic Party won't even link his web site, instead they link the Green Party candidate's site.

I've actually heard him speak and answer questions - he's anything but mentally deficient. I mean, the guy is obviously soft-spoken in deep contrast to your typical politician, but he knows what he's doing.

He couldn't state one city in SC that he campaigned, nor could he state one person he talked to while he campaigned. He saved up $10,400 while in the military and on unemployment. Really? That is $100 a week while making $250 a week. Plus he took care of his family and traveled across the state. Hmm... He couldn't even set up a web site while he campaigned. In the military he was also a retard.

The records, which document his superiors' decisions to pass over Greene for promotion, cite mistakes as severe as improperly uploading sensitive intelligence information to a military server, and as basic as an overall inability to clearly express his thoughts and perform basic tasks...

Greene has often mentioned his military service, saying he first came up with the idea to seek political office while serving in Korea. But the veteran has also refused to go into detail about his service, merely saying he won numerous decorations and left the military honorably but involuntarily.

Greene is “usually capable of handling mundane tasks with supervision” but is “not able to adapt to any changes to daily routine,” the reviewer wrote, also noting that Greene had received multiple disciplinary actions for failing to perform his duties.

Greene also was written up for posting sensitive information on a military Internet server, a mistake that resulted in a three-day work stoppage. Records showed Greene was kept at Shaw while the rest of his unit deployed after leadership “recognized his inability to contribute to the wartime mission.”

Green also was rated as not knowing much about his duties, not performing them effectively and not complying with minimum training requirements.

The reviewer also wrote Greene “required a daily to-do list” to perform basic duties and had a “consistent inability to follow instructions or maintain basic job knowledge.” Most seriously, the reviewer wrote that Greene would represent “a threat to others” because of his inability to grasp the basics of military training.

At his home in Manning on Thursday, Greene told an AP reporter who reviewed the documents with him that the evaluations show he was discriminated against by military supervisors but he did not explain what that meant.

"I'm telling you who they promote: the terrorists and the communists," said Greene, wearing a blue U.S. Air Force T-shirt. "This is why we need to overhaul the military and get these people out."

Interesting. Well, as we've all learned from our previous, most Dubbeya-est President, a high IQ isn't required for high office. I suppose I'm just glad I don't have to choose between an idiot and a nutjob, like SC.

Though I will say he's less awesome than Basil Marceaux.com. The most awesome human being on earth.

EDIT: Fixed "Basil Marceaux" to the more correct "Basil Marceaux.com" at Paul's correction. Thank you.

COLUMBIA -- Longshot Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene was indicted Friday on two charges, including a felony charge of showing pornography to a teenage student in a South Carolina college computer lab.

Greene surprised the party establishment with his primary victory in June. His arrest in November was first reported by The Associated Press the day after he won the nomination.

Authorities said he approached a student in a University of South Carolina computer lab, showed her obscene photos online, then talked about going to her dorm room.

A Richland County grand jury indicted Greene, 32, for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity - a felony - as well as a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent.

If convicted, Greene could face up to three years for the misdemeanor or up to five years for the felony.

Greene declined comment at his home in Manning. He has also refused to talk about the charge in interviews, and his attorney did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

Greene had visited the computer lab at the Bates House dorm in Columbia several times before his arrest, using an old student ID card to gain admission, according to campus police records. Dorm staffers told police they had asked security staff not to let him in, but reports did not give any more details.

Greene graduated from South Carolina in 2000 with a political science degree.

Greene, an unemployed military veteran, handily defeated Vic Rawl, a former lawmaker and judge who had been considered an easy win by Democrats.

Up to that point, Greene had done no visible campaigning and had no website, fundraising or staff.

After AP reported Greene's arrest, South Carolina Democratic Party leaders called on him to withdraw his candidacy. South Carolina law prohibits convicted felons from serving in state office, but there is no such rule for the U.S. House or Senate.

Greene has said he's staying in the race. In the months since his victory, Greene has given a series of awkward interviews to reporters clamoring for more information on the man who lives in Manning with his ailing father. In one interview, he suggested that the state's economy could be improved by making and selling action figures depicting him in his uniform.

Earlier this summer, the state Democratic Party upheld his nomination, denying a challenge filed by Rawl alleging voting abnormalities.

State police also cleared Greene of any impropriety involving his $10,440 filing fee. Greene has said he saved up his military pay for two years, a claim police said was backed up by his bank records.

Last month, Greene gave his first public speech, a 61âÑ2-minute recitation of his previous comments and commitment to jobs and education. On Thursday, he gave brief remarks to the executive committee of the state Democratic Party and asked them to support his campaign, according to executive director Jay Parmley.

Greene now has a website and says he has raised less than $1,000. He faces Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint in the fall. The popular incumbent has raised more than $3 million.

Green Party candidate Tom Clements will also be on the November ballot. He has reported no fundraising.
