They might know a great deal more than that. GRRM affirmed as much when he addressed this very quandary I have on his blog. So the prospect of the two mediums differing from one another in storylines provides little solace in this regard, if any. But I think you'd be better off praying for alien contact than hoping not to hear about what happens to Jon Snow(for instance), if anything, once this season is underway.

I will still hold out hope for a different story line in the books.
I still think Jon Snow has to be more integral than just being a white walker.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Speaking of Jon, I'm starting to think they'll have no choice but to revive him, even if it was never supposed to happen, given the insane buzz it generated. The thought does daunt me, what if we killed the story, so to speak, for the sake of one character? After all, what is the life of one bastard boy against the fandom?
I do hope the reference is not lost on you

Mine comes with an implicit infinity.

He's not a bastard times infinity?
He is a traitor's bastard times infinity plus one. There.
(I don't think I got your reference. I was merely quoting Stannis Baratheon earlier, altering only one word from the quote.

The infinity part was in re: W'ist's post.
Jon Snow is not who you think he is. I'll leave it at that.

Valar Morghilis.
And particularly because one is a Stark.

Yes, I thought it might have been... Sorry for pestering you.
Of course he isn't, they'll set his corpse on fire and he'll rise again to avenge both of his houses.
My only question is, who is the real Tyrion Lannister?
