Labelling theists like that is not a very nice thing to say. We've got some very intelligent ones here.

I'm a pessimist. A very pessimistic person. And really, that's what I'm getting around here. Allot of companions and friends I had left me because i hated them for being atheist. Despite never attacking me or even mentioning religion. I just walked up to them with an angry face and told them how much I hated them. I wanted to stop thinking like that for once.

Um...

What, did breadbasket run away with his little hateful tail between his little hateful legs?  Aww.  He was probably just a troll anyway.
I certainly hope so.  Because his posts seem to indicate that he hates every other human being on this planet, and he only exists to spew his anger and hatred over others.  So he's either a troll, or he's about to go shoot up a pre-school and then commit suicide.  Either way, the little boy needs some medication - and maybe a pacifier to suck on.

...did he really just go "Checkmate, atheists!" because some people, while sympathetic to his purported mental illness(es), pointed out he was being incredibly irrational? And that he was somehow fishing for that?

Was it a failed attempt at trolling?

I'm honestly confused.

Can you do the human race a favor and stop viewing everything as a debate? Because this isn't a debate.

I already know I'm wrong to think of atheism this way. I want to stop thinking like this. The goal of this thread was to just have people say that I have to stop viewing things in such a paranoid manner. If they simply sat their flat asses down and say, "judging people strictly by their belief system of choice is wrong, and we don't do that here," this would have not have happened. It was the easiest choice.

Allot were as easily as offended as a christian upon seeing a burning bible right at the first post. So I just decided, "fuck it, this is pointless," and decided to call atheists whatever I just called them. Not because of confirmation bias, because that would be against my interest, and not because I'm paranoid at the moment (note: part of depression and paranoia is that it goes on and off). But because it's clear you people don't want a form of reconciliation.

What I did however prove is that many are more interested in pushing a person away who is not perfectly, and I emphasize perfectly (as in still being on the fence), an atheist than actually just fitting that one last piece in. This is true of all parties really, but it seems to be many here are not immune to it either.

Let's recap. I'll take the blame on this and say that by choosing a forum and not people face to face, I have instrumented the failure because I should of considered that anonymity breeds dick- one of the basic rules about the internet.

Here is the summary of the first post:
-Frankly doesn't practice his beliefs, might as well be an atheist.
-I However expect the worst from people, and which can be a component of depression.
-I begin to hate people for no reason, and acknowledge this is not a good way to view people.
-One bad apple has become my first impression, forming a blanket statement.

My goal in here is that I want atheists word for word to tell me in a welcoming manner that they're people just like any other.

Instead I'm showered with more annoying stereotypes and humor that they think I'm not going to understand, that I perfectly understand. This was the exact opposite of my expectation, because I know allot of you are tired of the tribal nature that people have towards you. The stereotypes more than likely piss off allot, if not all of you. But with the results of the parent post, what's the point of reconciliation?

There is none at this point because the lot of the guys posting here don't want to reconcile. They want the exact opposite in fact. They want there atheist populace to be as pure and strong together as ever.

OP, what you did was the equivalent of walking into a party in someone's living room, making a sweeping statement that everyone at the party sucks, and then getting offended because people get mad over it.

If you want respect, you have to act like you want it. If you want to respect other people, you can't go at them with "I think you suck; change my mind".

Our responses are not obligated to conform to you. The only thing any human can do is respond to the individual. I would suggest you do that instead of expecting others to conform to you. Some individuals may agree and respond to your requests, others may not. You can only control you, not others.

You know, you're right.

That's the whole reason this is a failure.

Not because atheists are bad. I know they're not. But because well... they're human. This is what is to be expected nonetheless. Thank you random Abba fan.
