Today, May 4, marks the 16th anniversary of the surgery that restored my hearing after 12 years of profound deafness. I wrote Sound in tribute to my friends who made the effort to communicate with me when I could not hear at all. Enjoy!
Sound
When I was a ghost
Imploding in silence
My mind fed on regurgitations of life
Brimmed over with old stuff to share
Like a fountain in a park
Where the people use their pennies for the bus
When I was asleep
I thought I was awake
Until I really did wake up
And realized I'd been asleep
You really don't know
What your words have meant to me
When I was a ghost
A solid word anchored me in reality
When I was asleep
An eye to eye encounter
Rocked me in comfort
Roused me to love
The following video is the trailer for Speaking for the Child: An Autobiography and a Challenge.

The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.
Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.

Nietzsche isn't dead. How do I know he lives? He lives in my mind.
