Are you a disciple?

RE: Are you a disciple?
I think his books on evolutionary theory are top-notch examples of popular science writing that should be more widely known.

His cheerleading for atheism? Meh. I don't need him to explain to myself the idea that believers have failed to provide good reasons for me to believe in their invisible friends. Who needs atheist "leaders" when there are so many faith "leaders" who fail to persuade at every turn?

I honestly don't know much about the guy, so when I was informed that I am indeed a Dawkins worshiper I was surprised to say the least. I never knew being an atheist meant worshipping Dawkins. I guess I'll have to disavow my atheism.

At least Dawkins is real - we have pictures and everything.  And he's smart especially when it comes evolution and biology.  Gives him an enormous advantage over that silly-ass, fucking, early bronze age 'god' that the morons have invented.

As I said, I never read even one line written by him or any of the other prominent atheists. But everyone of us probably has their own pet authors, the ones they always come back to because they enjoy their writings. For me it's Karlheinz Deschner, died in 2014 at the ripe age of 90. He was a very vocal critic of (mainly) the Catholic Church. And his writings were smack down my own avenue. History. He got his facts right, but I was always aware that he was transporting an agenda. You can be right but still having an agenda in leaving certain things out of your narrative. Certain mitigating factors so to speak.

I'm aware of that with everything I read. Fiction or non fiction. I use to think that this is a distinction between me and most theists coming here. I don't buy any narrative at face value, just because it meets my expectations. Probably a result of my time at university and my work as a journalist, but it's something I recommend to everyone. I remember once grabbing a volume by Terry Goodkind because the synopsis appealed to me. After the first hundred pages or so, I thought, all right, you want to sell something to me. So I looked him up and realized he was an Ayn Rand follower. I still finished the book, but I knew what to make of it.

He was a very close personal friend with this guy:

who introduced him to this Lady:

who became his wife.

Either of those on their own qualifies him for god status.

I like him. If I was super hot, I'd fuck him. He has the brains. I dig brains.

But I'm not a disciple and certainly don't worship the dude. I went to a thing in Phoenix once where he participated in some talks about violence and humans. On my way out I saw the book signing line. No way I'll wait in line to shake some human's hand. Waited for my friend outside. Some chick runs out yelling, "He touched my hand! He signed my book! He knows my name now! I'm never washing my hand again!" Now that girl I'd never fuck.

I like his writings but I can't say I'm a huge fan of Prof. Dawkins.
