Gord Downie, Canadian music icon, diagnosed with terminal brain cancer
Gord Downie, age 52, lead singer of iconic Canadian band, The Tragically Hip,
was just diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, a glioblastoma.

They've written countless songs referencing Canadian events, places, and life, for 30 years.

I'm not surprised you haven't heard of them,
although they're probably one of the most successful and well-known bands in Canada.

It is probably due in no small measure to the fact that they're songwriting is so Canada-centric
that they didn't enjoy as much international success as other artists.

But we loved them for it.
