That's how wonderful she is.

I admit, I am a huge fan of AGT.

When Simon Cowell comments that he has never heard anything like that in all the years he's being doing that show, it's not without precedent:

The following are performances by Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli:

I shared the last two not to denigrate the previous performers, but to demonstrate their talent as measured to standards of perfection. The amateurs are truly remarkable. I think the girl has better raw talent, but am perhaps more sympathetic to Potts' age at the time of his recognition. His more mature voice is also more pleasing, but the young girl has the potential to be extraordinary.

I choose Pavarotti over Bocelli simply because he is the consummate performer; he always seems fully invested in the moment. The real reason I choose Pavarotti is because Bocelli could pass for Jose Mourinho's brother.

I'm sorry: no. I know what I'm talking about, with several relevant degrees.

This girl could be fantastic when she's older, but she's only hurting herself at this point. It was extremely painful for me to listen to and to see. No one her age, with organs not fully developed, should take on a piece like that. Her voice will be fucked in a few years unless she takes a break from what she's doing and takes on more appropriate pieces for her age. If she had a good voice teacher and vocal coach, they would encourage her not to do that to herself.

Do you think the likes of Cowell give two shits about all that? All they care about is how much golden eggs they get out of the goose.

Woah, Jebus. There's a reason why that kind of role isn't usually cast with 13 year olds (apart from the fact that the piece is actually for tenor). What's next, toddlers lifting anvils? She's forcing it and almost yelling, and everyone finds it adorable because she is 13. Great. This is what this might sound like if your voice is properly matured:

You don't get this kind of classically-trained-like voice from, you know, enjoying singing in your spare time, and mom proposes a piece from time to time. You have to push and train insanely hard. She was pushed to the limit by her mom because now she is marketable as a novelty, whereas in 5 years, she will be one of hundreds of aspiring opera singers in her cohort.

I was responding to the OP; not making a comment on Simon Cowell, who, not only has no place judging anything operatic, but is a pretty low form of human, IMO. Not to mention the kid's mom, who should be strung up for letting her kid do that to herself.

I can't believe that song came out of that girl's mouth. Neither could the judge.

I can imagine this kind of thing would put a strain on the kid's vocal chords, so I can understand some posters being against this kind of thing. I'm just giving my opinion on her great singing voice, and not really judging what happens behind the scenes. I imagine that's not really what the video is about.

Like I said in the edited post, I'm not judging what may be going on in the background. she may not do th opera thing all the time. Maybe she just did it for the show to put her best out there. I don't know. All I know is that she sang fantastically.

Letting children belt Nessun Dorma on talent shows seems to become a tradition...

It's a guaranteed tear jerker with applause in the right places.
