It also icludes the fees for Nigel Farage, who outright refuses to remove his ass from the European parliament. For another two years. One has to think of one's retirement plan, after all.

I agree, as long as the same applies to Brits living in the EU.

I'm fairly confident that if does come down to being included in the negotiations that both sides will reciprocate, but I don't think it should have to come to that. I don't think EU settlers should have to live in limbo for the next 2 years, for a decision that they could not take part in.

It's really very unlikely IMO that if May were to give them the right to remain outwith the negotiations that the EU would refuse to do the same, but even if they didn't...so what? Do we really have to play tit-for-tat?

The problem is that we can't guarantee that until negotiations actually start and that won't be till after Article 50 is actually triggered, which is above all a condemnation of the stupid rules imposed regarding A50. That should have been settled almost immediately after the referendum, I can see no sane reason for the fate of EU and UK expats to have been dragged out like this.

Nicola Sturgeon has said a second independence referendum will become a “legitimate, almost necessary” step unless Scotland secures a special relationship with the European Union before article 50 is triggered.

The first minister used a speech in Edinburgh to accuse Theresa May’s government of putting the settlement that established the Scottish parliament under “grave threat” by rejecting Sturgeon’s calls for a special deal.

Sturgeon earlier wrote in an article for the Times that her moves towards a second referendum were prompted by the prime minister’s “sheer intransigence”, in a further effort to push May into fresh concessions.

May is under pressure from within her cabinet to counter Sturgeon’s agitation, increasing expectations the prime minister could set out what Scotland will gain from Brexit when she addresses the Scottish Conservative annual conference in Glasgow on Friday.

There will never be a special relationship with Scotland and the EU while we're in the UK. May doesn't want that. The EU have ruled it out. Sturgeon knows this but she has to go through all the steps necessary to show that a second independence referendum is inevitable. It also demonstrates that the Westminster Tories don't care about Scotland in the slightest.

Yeah, it's not enough though. Mavis's plan is deliberately unclear. They've had nearly 9 months now to get things straight and the fact they won't is a sign that either they are really clueless or they're hiding bad news. Since they're not complete idiots, I'm going to assume the latter. Mavis are trying to protect their jobs and deliberately lying to the electorate for their own personal gain. The Lords should be calling this out and protecting us from our own worst impulses and the machinations of immoral politicians.

As much as I hate the idea of the House of Lords, they are the only ones that can keep the government in check right now.
