OK, then alternative approaches are medicine.

Yes, I do, as you're letting me define it.

If you're referring to prescription drugs, no, I'm not currently taking any. Last time I did was a few years ago, when I took some antibiotics for what was likely a bacterial lung infection.

So basically you are not against medicine just medicine you choose to dislike  Dodgy  And then you use antibiotics when it is necessary ... some have more problems than you so their span between taking conventional medicine may be shorter .... But you may not always be so lucky.

You will probably increase your intake of conventional medicine as you age, assuming your ignorance doesn't kill you first ...

How about, the practice dealing with the maintenance of health and the prevention, alleviation, or cure of disease. Seems like a good starting point at least.

That's incredibly vague though.  Under that definition having voodoo charms cast on you would be medicine if they were 'healing' or 'preventative' charms.

The TL;DR is that the claim "modern medicine is the third leading cause of death" is flat false. It's just another alarmist article predicated on lies, damned lies, and statistics.

This "alarmist article," and the earlier one from 2000, appeared in peer-reviewed journals.

If you want to be taken seriously, post accurate information, properly represented, and make honest, clear arguments.

Why do you say that JAMA and BMJ aren't sources of accurate information?

Basically I'm in favor of medicine that works, against medicine that doesn't work, and really against medicine that actually harms.

And much more in favor of prevention than cure.

Did you wish to rebut any of the claims made by the article? Or is it your contention that any claim made in a peer-reviewed journal is reliable?

His point is that he is a Good Primate. And primates that agree with him are Good Primates. But we are bad.
