You are Swedish because your passport probably says so, and that's kind of official, and have bearing on who you can turn to ask for help if you get into trouble elsewhere in the world.

You actually have more control over whether or not you are Kurd.  If you don't where your parents are from should unduly influence you, you needn't be Kurd.  If you think that makes you better, you can be Kurd.

Not so.  Many of the deities that passed down to us through Greek myths were not originally Greek. How do you know Greeks could speak to them?

I for one am a human being and an individual. I am a national citizen, proven by my passport, and I'm a European citizen, also proven by my passport. My ancestry is too complicated to take full stock. Ethnicity is only a talking point for shitheads to bunker in behind the coincidence of birth. Nothing more.

So I've been thinking about this whenever someone asks me where I'm from. What decides which ethnicity someone belongs to? Both my parents are kurdish but I was born here in Sweden. So, if someone asks me where I'm from what is correct to respond? I was born in sweden so if we speak literally I am from sweden, am I not? But as a person am I swedish or am I kurdish? Is it correct to say both? What decides if I'm swedish or not, is it my genetics? Is it where I'm born? Is it where my parents are from?
