My sympathies, GC, I see addicts on a regular basis; it's never pretty and it generally ends poorly. I'm sure you all did what you could, take solace in that much.

I never used a needle, but all my friends I grew up with did. I know at least half of them are dead.
I'm still in contact with two. One mate is pretty much permanently in D-ward.
The other fella I'm seeing tomorrow. He's addicted to speed and ecstasy.
I see him about once a month and I take clothes, blankets, food and money.
I always clean up and cook a few decent meals.
I am always worried that he won't be there anymore.
Kicked out or dead.
I suppose I realise that that is the way it will end.
Nothing else to say about that.
GC, like other have said, you done what you could.
It's rare to meet someone who got out once they were fully in.

Addiction doesn't discriminate. It takes from every walk of life and doesn't often show mercy. Many a good person has been lost to it. My condolences.

Sorry to hear that GC. I lost a very good friend of mine to addiction nine years ago, so you have my sincere condolences.

I still struggle with my addiction from time to time, but it's mostly under control, partly due to the fact that my brain and body just can't handle what they used to.
