The channel was looking for freaks in a freak show. If they hadn't fit the profile they would be the same as they were. It's not as if they achieved anything on their own. On that grounds it's no achievement at all.
They built a successful business called "Duck Commander" long before the show came along. In fact, I'm pretty sure they were millionaires before they even got the show, but I couldn't find anything proving that.
